Chunk Side Table - Walnut
Side table composed of hand carved 4" thick slab black walnut and cast magnesium, aluminum base, Jordan Mozer. Made in Chicago, 2017. This piece is unique. Signed. 17" high x 15" x 13.5" (43 cm tall x 38 cm x 34 cm, top is 10 cm thick).
PROCESS + MATERIALS
Made in Chicago. The tabletop is a solid 4" thick slab of Michigan Sycamore, harvested from his family's land by a fellow named Richard who drys the wood in a solar kiln. The base was hand carved, then cast in recycled magnesium-aluminum, polished, brushed and then rubbed with elixirs to patina the metal. The base forms were originally created for East, the conversion of an old foundry into a restaurant and boutique hotel in Hamburg, Germany.
THE STORY
Composed by the artist as a variation on tables created from castings and slabs for Victory at the Meadowlands.
