Seattle, Washington
Imagining the future of digital gaming culture for Steven Spielberg.
In 1996 JMA was commissioned to create designs for Steven Spielberg’s GameWorks, an urban entertainment prototype in Seattle, Washington.
GameWorks was an edgy environment for the emerging interactive digital game technology and early virtual reality endeavors. The environments imagined by JMA cross breed beautifully decrepit and fertile remains of machine age industrial spaces had been converted into live-work loft spaces with digital technology, a surreal juxtaposition explored in texts authored by William Gibson and Phillip K. Dick, and also consistent with the converted Chicago industrial space reinventions which founded Jordan Mozer + Associates, Limited.
