PROCESS + MATERIALS
Base and finial: Hand carved maple forms were molded and then investment-cast in recycled red bronze, then hand polished. The hand blown glass was formed in a custom made cast mold and then hand-worked.
Jordan Mozer + Associates, Ltd. was commissioned to design a restaurant and jazz club adjacent to Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York. The Plié Lamp was one several components made for Iridium inspired by dance... The project imagined accompanying Clara in her Nutcracker dream and was populated by elements inspired by dance and Goethe's thought that "architecture is like frozen music". The entrance door handle, for instance, was a bronze sixteenth note in second position...
